(8-13-20) Shame on Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s indecision on not informing school administrators and Athletic Directors with guidelines on football, soccer and field hockey. Why wait until this Tuesday (August 18) while responding with little hints and leaks by OHSAA and your office officials of information on what he is considering.

August 10th tweet – just three days ago sending out signals on what will happen…

Yesterday in a TV interview on WFMJ TV Beau Rugg, assistant commissioner of the Ohio High School Athletic Association

“I think we’ve worked very hard with the governor’s office and the Ohio Department of Health to try to put as many things in place to make it as safe as possible for everyone involved. We feel good about it and I think we’ll find out tomorrow.

“Things change everyday. That data we get everyday could change things [quickly]. Am I confident it could work? Yes. Do I know that it could end at any time, it could change at any time because of what we’ve experienced the last several months? Absolutely, and we have to be prepared for that.”

Today at his news conference DeWine said –

He went on to say–

“But it’s also important what young people do when they’re not playing, when they’re home, when they’re out and about. So, I think having coaches focus on that, we always look to our coaches for leadership, in the era of the pandemic and fighting the coronavirus, is probably their most important job,”

“We want the athletes to compete. We want the young people to have their season, but we want to do it as safely as possible. This will be a little disruptive for some people, but what we want to make sure that parents, and people who mean a lot to that particular child have the opportunity to see them,”

He also added – that there will be restrictions on the amount of fans at sporting events, but it will ultimately be up to schools and parents if sports will be played this fall.

So Governor why in the world are you waiting to make your final decision known? There are a lot of folks hanging on what you are going to order..are you waiting for something to change in the next 3 or 4 days. It took you less then a day to have your COVID 19 test overturned using your test from positive result to a negative result.  Make this a priority not a political issue.
