(7-19-21) Eastside has announced that they have named a new head boys basketball coach…Ed Bentley.

Bentley takes over a Blazers team that finished 17-8 last season, reaching the championship game of the Westview Sectional before losing to Churubusco.

Bentley replaces former Eastside head coach Ryan Abbott who was hired as the new head coach at Carroll.

Bentley coached Westview to a 16-7 record last season and a co-Northeast Corner Conference (NECC) regular season title.

Before that he coached eight seasons at Angola, winning sectional championships in 2016, 2018 and 2019, with 25 wins in 2016.

Bentley posted a 120-67 record at Angola and now has a 136-74 combined record at the two schools.

On June 25th in a surprise move…the Goshen News called for comment on the sudden change in coaches from the Westview school officials, but they declined to comment on the situation, but the story said Bentley’s teaching job has already been posted as an opening on the Westview school website.
