UNION CITY, Ind.(12-12-21) – The Indians varsity basketball team fought hard, but fell short in a 58-51 loss to visiting Ansonia Saturday night.

Union City started the game on fire from behind the arc as Conner Walser and Angel Nieto both hit a trey to give the Indians a quick 6-0 lead. The Tigers answered back, as Ian Schmitmeyer hit several 3-pointers to help Ansonia gain the lead and keep it that way for the rest of the contest.

Walser led in scoring for UC with 19 points, followed by seniors Rylan Mote with nine and Antoni Velasquez with eight points.

The 0-6 Indians hunt for their first win of the season as they travel to Tri High School on Saturday for a Tre-Eastern Conference showdown with the Titans. The Tigers will have a conference battle of their own as they head to Twin Valley South on Friday.
