(3-5-22) Winnebago ends one of the best girls basketball seasons in school history. The Indians made it to the IHSA 2A championship game…but fell just short today losing to Quincy Notre Dame 63-56. Winnebago ends the season with 35 wins, all three of their loses came to private schools, including today’s loss to QND, Peoria Notre Dame and St. Viator.

The entire game was close with several lead changes and Winnebago leading 29-28 at the half. Their biggest lead of the day would be 8 and that was late in the 2nd quarter. QND’s biggest lead came late in the 4th quarter with a 10 point lead.

Interesting stats for the game…Winnebago had 3 more FG’s with 19, but shooting just 19 of 56 from the field. Winnebago out rebounded the Raiders 35-31. QND had a red-hot day at the free throw line shooting 29-34, while the Indians were 14-24.

The Raiders All-Stater Abbey Schreacke was the game high scorer with 35 points (title game record), 14 of 14 from the FT line10 of 15 from the field and 11 rebounds.

Winnebago’s Renee Rittmeyer had 16 points, 5-7 from the field, 2 for 2 from the 3pt line, 4 for 4 from the FT line and and 5 rebounds.Myah Brown added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
