(3-28-22) The Brandywine Bobcats topped off a BCS Red Division season title when five members were named to the 1st team. Led by Senior Carson Knapp, Junior Michael Palmer and three Sophomores Jeramiah Palmer, Jamier Palmer and Nate Orr.
Buchanan’s Ryan Young (Sr) was named the Most Valuable Player of the Year. Young finished the season with 491 points, a 22.3 per game average, and the fourth highest single-season total in school history. He topped off his career in a District final loss to Watervliet scoring 30 points on 9-of-20 shooting from the field, including four 3-pointers, 8-of-8 at the free throw line and 13 rebounds.
After the District Final Watervliet coach Dan Hoff told the South Bend Tribune –
“Young is one of those guys who is tenacious to score. Not that he isn’t tenacious in the other parts of his game, but he definitely is tenacious to score. When he wanted to get to the basket and wanted to hit a 3, he seemed to be able to do it. We thought we could give him a little extra space on 3s, and he made us pay for it. And he got to the free throw line and hit free throw, after free throw, after free throw. He’s the best scoring big man we’ve seen this year.“

Other 1st team members include three Berrien Springs Shamrocks James York, Byron Tate and Kole Blasko. South Haven’s Damon Jackson rounded out the the top team.
