
(4-7-22) Bryce Schondelmyer, who has been a highly regarded QB at Arcanum the past three seasons has decided to play his Senior Season at Springfield. Arcanum is a DVI school, while Springfield is DI.
In 2021 Schondelmyer was named Ohio’s D VI Co-Offensive Player of the Year, it was the 2nd consecutive year winning the award. Last season he passed for 3,278 yards. He was also named the 2021 WOAC Offensive Player of the Year!.
Last season in the D I State Championship game St. Edward beat Springfield 23-13 to win the title. Last season the Wildcats quarterback Te’Sean Smoot, who graduates, finished second in voting for the Ohio Mr. Football award and was the Co-Offensive Payer of the Year in DI.
UPDATED 11-19-22 – So how did the transfer turn out?
Springfield led the GWOC with more than 405 yards of total offense per game. The Wildcats were led by senior quarterback Bryce Schondelmyer, who led the GWOC in passing yards (2,951 yards), passing touchdowns (31) and completion percentage (68.3 percent).
Next weekend Springfield will travel to Piqua to play Cincinnati Moeller for a chance to win their second consecutive D I state title.
All thanks to Schondelmyer who went 26-for-29 for 278 yards and two touchdown passes and rushed for another touchdown as Springfield beat Olentangy Liberty 35-7 to win the Region 2 championship game.
Ohio’s transfer portal seems to be working for Springfield.
