(6-17-22) The Ohio High School Football Coaches Association (OHSFCA) announced its 2023 Hall of Fame. Two local coaches were selected, Ken Meyer of Marion Local and Doug Frye of St. Marys and Wapakoneta.
Meyer took the Flyers to their first ever playoff appearance in 1981, when they finished the year at 10-1-1. He was the Marion Local Head coach from 1978 to 1996.
Overall, Doug Frye, who has coached at six different schools (Bucyrus, two times at St. Marys total of 18 years and Wapakoneta), is 235-123 in his 34 years as a head coach.
Frye coached at Wapakoneta from 2010-13 where he went 33-10 and led the Redskins to two playoff appearances.
