(6-17-22) Yesterday in a post on the Sandwich HS football Facebook page it was announced that the 2022 football season had been cancelled.

Last season the Indians went 0-9 overall and 0-6 in conference play.

With the cancellation it will see 9 schools scrambling looking to fill their schedules. According to the posting they are hoping to fill a Freshman/Sophomore schedule for this fall.

Did you know….

New Idea had factories in Sandwich (Illinois) and Coldwater (Ohio), in the 1950’s the two schools played each other in basketball and in football.

A look back…The New Idea Spreader Company of Coldwater, Ohio, purchased the Sandwich Manufacturing Company in 1930. It manufactured farm implements much the same as the Sandwich Manufacturing Company. This factory closed in 1955, and the warehouse closed in 1981.

On November 11th, 1952 in Sandwich, Coldwater picked up a 58-0 win- (Mercer County Chronicle)
