The Willards, Cade, Owen Kerri and Aaron

(6-24-22) Aaron Willard has announced that he is stepping down as Eastside’s head baseball coach. Not wasting anytime Eastside has already hired his replacement…his oldest son Cade Willard (23). Cade is already a high school teacher in the school system and was a Varsity Assistant for his dad this past season. Dad will continue in his roll as the Eastside Athletic Director.

Willard has been coaching for over 35 years…in three different sport, baseball, softball and boys basketball.

Willard’s Coaching record

Baseball – 125-42 (six seasons) – during that time he won four sectional championships, three Northeast Corner Conference tournament titles and either sole or shared NECC season titles three times. In 2021 Eastside won the sectional, regional and semi-state championships, finishing as state runners-up in Class 2A.

Boys Basketball – 69-64 (six seasons) – a sectional title in 1992-93, the first for Eastside in 27 years

Softball – 506-174 ( 23 seasons) – winning 13 sectionals, six regionals, one semi-state and one state championship. The Blazers won 12 NECC tournament titles and won or shared the league championship 13 times.

A combined 700 total wins in all three sports.

One reason for his retirement from the baseball program it will allow him more time to watch his son, Owen, who jusy graduated and will play baseball for DI Purdue Ft. Wayne starting in the fall.
