Toledo St. Francis Football Player Shot And Killed

I write this evening with terrible news, news many of you may have already heard. This afternoon, St. Francis senior Marvelous Walton was involved in a shooting. Tragically, Marvelous did not survive.

(7-10-22) According to the Toledo Police Department one teenager, Marvelous Watson (17), died at the scene and the other victim is identified as Marcquise Waites (17) and was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in critical condition after a shooting on the corner of Lockwood and Berdan.

Officers responded to the call about a shooting at 1:10 P.M. on July 9 at the 3800 block of Lockwood Ave. Toledo Police said both victims were inside a vehicle when shots were fired.

Walton was preparing to enter his senior year at St. Francis de Sales High School, where he played football. He is listed as WR/CB on the roster.

Police don’t have any suspects in custody and the investigation is still ongoing.

This is the 29th homicide in Toledo this year and is the 6th homicide in which a juvenile was killed.

According to St. Francis coach Mike Blochowski, Marvelous was a “great kid” and was well-loved by his coaches and teammates.
