Lonsway and Dues

(8-21-22) A Mercer County Connection is now a part of the San Jose Giants. This past week SS Damon Dues was called up to the California League to finish the season. Dues dad is Trent, a Coldwater native, the current baseball coach at Vandalia-Butler.

His teammate at San Jose is Celina grad P Seth Lonsway. Lonsway started the season at San Jose.

To celebrate both had a big game this week.

On Thursday night, in an 11-9 Giants win over Inland Empire, seven different Giants players had multi-hit hit games, including shortstop Damon Dues (2-for-3, 2B, RBI, SB) in his California League debut.

On Friday night Lonsway, would enter the game in the 5th inning, struck out six and walked two during his five-inning performance. He retired the final eight batters of his outing. Over his last two appearances, Lonsway has pitched 10 innings with only four hits and no earned runs allowed (3 BB, 13 SO).

Dues, who was a Giants’ free agent, played his college baseball at Wright State and Lonsway, a 6th round draft choice, played at Ohio State.
