(8-25-22) Western (Russiaville, Indiana) HS junior Elizabeth Mercer covered Chippendale Golf Club’s front nine with a record breaking 30 (6 under par). That is the lowest nine-hole score in Western girls golf history, the previous record was 31.

Mercer scored:

  • birdies on Nos. 2, 4, 5 and 8
  • pars on Nos. 1, 3, 6 and 7
  • eagle on No. 9

Mercer is a two-time All-State player.

Western coach Steve Hoppes told the Kokomo Tribune–

“After she hit her drive on the ninth hole, she came over and said, ‘I’m sure I’m short of the green, but if I happen to birdie, I’m going to tie the school record.’ I said, ‘All right, good for you. She chipped it — eagled the last hole.”
