(2-6-23) Marion Local’s boys basketball team finished the Mercer County League (MCL) season with a perfect 7-0 record after beating Coldwater on Friday 56-44. The Flyers with the win pick up another MCL title, they have won the title the last three seasons, sharing it with St. Henry in 2020-21.
The win had added meaning as it was the 200th coaching win for Flyer Head Coach Kurt Goettemoeller. Goettemoeller was named Marion Local’s coach in July of 2011.
Several games in the MCL schedule still remain.

The Panthers will face St. Henry on Thursday and a win will give them the title (based on MCL guidelines). A loss will give Parkway, Coldwater and Marion Local a share of the title.
Next season scheduling will change with the OVISCO Classic being eliminated and each member school will play five MCL games.

Why the MCL?
To add a little extra excitement to the high school basketball season SSN again will bring you the Mercer County League.
The first year SSN introduced the (mythical) MCL was in 2018-19.
All six Mercer County high schools are included, actual head to head match-ups between the schools that will determine a MCL champion in both boys and girls basketball.
