(3-28-23) Alyx Brandewie comes to Eastside as the Blazers new head football coach after three seasons as the head coach at Manchester, going 8-22. The Squires advanced to the 2A Sectional 35 semi-finals last season.
Brandewie was recognized as honorable mention selection for Region 5 in the Indianapolis Colts/NFL Coach of the Week program for Week 1 of 2020–his first win as a head coach.
Brandewie was approved by the DeKalb County Eastern Community School board last week.
Brandewie also taught 6th grade in the school system.
Before taking over the Manchester head job Brandewie was an assistant coach at Manchester from 2016 to 2018, and at his alma mater Minster (Ohio) in 2019 campaign. Brandewie was named the Manchester Head Coach in 2020.
Brandewie replaces long-time Blazers coach Todd Mason, who resigned after six seasons at Eastside. The Blazers went 54-18 with a regional championship, two sectional titles and five Northeast Corner Conference Small Division titles during his run.
