(3-29-23) Buchanan’s Faith Carson (Sr. 6’4 C) has been named Michigan’s AP Division 3 Player of the Year. Carson averaged 19.3 points, 11.4 rebounds and 6.2 blocks per game for the top-ranked Bucks this season.

The Ohio State University commit helped Buchanan to a 23-2 overall record, a Lakeland Conference championship, district title and their first regional title in 20 years.

So how does Ohio State grab one of Michigan’s top high school girls basketball players?

Buckeye Coach Kevin McGuff is married to Letitia (Bowen) McGuff…she is a Buchanan graduate and one of the all-time great players for the Bucks during her high school career.

In 1990 she led the Bucks to a Class C State title beating Detroit Country Day 42-34. scoring 31 of Buchanan’s 42 points in the win.

The ‘Buchanan connection‘ paid off for Coach McGuff…sometimes its not what you know, but who you know.
