Release from John Glenn – 4-5-23
Glenn Joins Local Schools to Create New Conference
John Glenn School Corporation is extremely excited to announce that John Glenn High School is joining a new Athletic Conference!
JGHS has been a member of the Northern Indiana Conference since 2015 after the dissolution of the Northern State Conference. We are appreciative of the teamwork and competition shared with our NIC associates. Unfortunately, the consolidation of high schools in Elkhart, coupled with plans to do the same in South Bend, have significantly impacted the future format of the NIC.
The John Glenn Team believes that new opportunities in athletics and activities is in the best interest of our students, staff, families, and community members.
For this reason, we are elated to announce, that in partnership with the following high schools, a new Indiana High School Athletic Conference will be fashioned for the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
Thank you, Bremen, Jimtown, Knox, LaVille, and Tippecanoe Valley for your efforts in this endeavor! John Glenn is grateful and appreciative to you, our partnering schools, for your dedication and teamwork in creating this new athletic alliance, a decision that’s best for kids!
Details regarding the new conference will be forthcoming and released as they are available.
(4-1-23) Six Indiana schools according to South Bend’s WHME-TV, on their Facebook page, said the following schools have asked to leave their current conferences —

Jimtown, Bremen and John Glenn have sent letters to the Northern Indiana Conference (NIC) asking to leave the league by 2024-25.
Other members of NIC (9) – Elkhart, Mishawaka Marian, New Prairie, Penn, South Bend Adams, South Bend Clay, South Bend Riley, South Bend St. Joseph, South Bend Washington.
LaVille and Knox have asked to leave the Hoosier North Athletic Conference (HNAC).
Other members of HNAC (6) – Caston, Culver Community, North Judson-San Pierre, Pioneer, Triton, Winamac
Tippecanoe Valley has sent a letter asking for separation from the Three Rivers Conference by 2024-25
Other members of TRC (9) – Maconaquah, Manchester, North Miami, Northfield, Peru, Rochester, Southwood, Wabash, Whitko
The six schools are members of three different conferences, should the moves be made it usually causes a domino effect…this one could really see some additional changes take place.
Don’t be surprised if other schools have been contacted or are considering a move,,,no official word that the six schools above are even planning a new conference.
Adjustments are a fact of life in high school athletic conferences, many reasons why school administrators decide to make the change.
