Teri Samples

(8-9-23) Teri Samples was named the new Parkway Athletic Director at the July 12th Parkway Local Board of Education meeting.

Samples takes over for Matt Triplett who was named the new Parkway Middle School Principal in June.

Samples tells us about her background and why she looks forward to this new position—

It has been a very busy past month learning the ropes, meeting with coaches, talking to Parkway fans, and the difficult job of cleaning out my beloved 1st grade classroom. I have been blessed by an amazing elementary staff that I will miss, especially the K-1 hallway! Luckily, I have past Parkway AD’s Matt Triplett, Doug Hughes, and Lucus Minnich still in the building to lean on. They each have been helpful in answering questions, providing training, and offering valuable advice. My family has known Coldwater AD Eric Goodwin for quite awhile and there’s a reason why he is one of the best AD’s in the state! He and my fellow first-year AD, Aimee Pottkotter at Ft. Recovery have been valuable resources so far.

Over the more than twenty years of coaching a variety of sports here at Parkway, I have built, and will continue to establish, a strong rapport with colleagues, parents, and students/athletes. At Parkway, I have served as head varsity girls golf coach, varsity assistant, junior varsity and junior high softball coach, as well as junior high girls basketball coach. When I first moved back to the district, I started and developed the junior high softball program for Hall of Fame Coach Mark Esselstein.

Prior to accepting the AD position, I was an elementary teacher for over 25 years mostly at Parkway, after starting my teaching/coaching career at Central Local Schools (Fairview).

I have two sons, Riley a junior at the University of Findlay and Xavier a junior at Parkway. Riley played three sports while in high school and is heading into his second season as an OHSAA-licensed basketball referee and baseball umpire. Xavier plays three sports at Parkway and was 2nd team All-MAC and 2nd Team All-District last spring in baseball. My husband and I, both Parkway grads, coached recreation league teams when the boys were younger. Sports run in our family as does Black and Gold! I look forward to the challenge of this new position and plan to help our coaches build our programs and athletes toward their fullest potential.
