(9-3-23) This past weekend was an interesting one in Ohio High School football…winning and losing streaks were highlighted.

Kirtland, well known for their consecutive game winning streaks (including tournament) ended in 2021 at 55.

This weekend the Hornets had their 57 game regular season game winning streak end losing to Perry 24-6.

The 57 game started started on October 28th, 2016 after they had lost the week (10-21-16) before to Cuyahoga Heights 21-0.

The Pirates end multiple Kirtland streaks:

  • 57 consecutive regular-season wins (2nd longest)
  • 38 consecutive home wins (2nd longest)
  • 18 consecutive games allowing <20 pts. (longest)

On the national scene the Midwest Athletic Conference’s Marion Local has the longest winning streak (including tournament games) in the country at 35. The Flyers beat conference rival Minster 42-7 on Friday night.

Andale (Kansas) presently has the longest streak with 52 in a row, in second place is John Milledge Academy (Georgia) with 51,

This week Wyoming beat Aiken 44-6 …. the win for the Cowboys was their 70th consecutive regular season win for the Cowboys dating back to 2015.

Ending a losing streak this week was Columbus West who beat Millersport 55-0 ending the state’s longest active losing streak at 35 games. This was the Cowboys’ first win since 2018.
