(11-7-23) So let’s look at how many double-digit teams are still left in this year’s OHSAA state football play-offs.
Just 5 in four divisions, D VII has two remaining double-digit seeds remaining.
After the first two weeks there 1-#10 seed, 1-#12 seed, 2-#13 seed and 1-#14 seed.
Double-Digit Seeded Teams Remaining
D I
1 Lewis Center Olentangy (11-1) vs. 12 Springfield (7-5) at Hilliard Darby High School
D IV
1 Steubenville (11-1) vs. 13 Gnadenhutten Indian Valley (9-3) at St. Clairsville High School Red Devils Stadium
D VI
3 Mogadore (9-2) vs. 10 Mineral Ridge (8-4) at Salem High School Sebo Stadium
D VII
1 Dalton (10-1) vs. 13 Norwalk St. Paul (8-4) at Ashland High School Community Stadium
2 Ansonia (12-0) vs. 14 St. Henry (5-7) at Piqua High School Alexander Stadium
How many #1 teams are left in the playoffs? 26 out of 28. It shows that the current computer point system has done an amazing job with getting the best teams the best chance of winning.
By the way there are 20 #2 seeds still playing to move on.
This should put adding that extra week of play-offs in consideration for the future…is it worth the extra income and does it accomplish the goal.
OHSAA who approved the format needs to consider the current results…Ohio football coaches will most likely agree on looking it over.
