(11-10-23) New Parkway football coach Jake Circle, who just completed his first season and a trip to the playoffs, has found himself the center of controversy recently.

This is Circle’s first head coaching job…he is just 28 and is one of the youngest head football coaches in the state.

In late October Circle was arrested near Mendon for OVI, but according to a Celina Daily Standard story that is just the tip of the iceberg of his troubles leading up to that arrest.

Circle is presently on unpaid administrative leave due to his arrest, he is also a Parkway teaching aide for special needs students.

Caught in the middle of the conflict is new Parkway AD Teri Samples who just took over the athletic program this past summer.

According to one of the personnel files given to the Standard …Samples has several times reprimanded Circle on numerous items and issues.

Samples according to the Standard story also implemented a policy for Circle to follow…

The improvement plan stipulated Circle would hold a license and complete hiring requirements, check his email, not communicate with athletes without a parent present, use school archived communication at all times, “tell the truth at all times,” communicate with a building principal or building secretary before making any schedule changes and communicate with the building secretary before leaving the building during the school day, according to the file.

Parkway BOE President Deb Call and her handling of the November 1st meeting have also been called into scrutiny. Several items and accusations were made by those attending the meeting. Call voted against putting Circle on leave.

Parkway school superintendent Jeanne Osterfeld continues to say she can’t comment because the district is conducting an investigation.
