(11-19-23) 28 Ohio high school football teams remain in the hunt for one of seven state football titles in the semifinal games coming up this weekend.

Joe Eitel and the OHSAA have to be very happy with the computer points seeding process and how it worked this season.

17 of the 28 remaining teams were #1 seeds in their region…that is 61%. One small hiccup is Springfield in D I who is a #12 seed, they are the only remaining team who would have not qualified for the playoffs before the expansion from 8 to 16 teams in a region, they went 5-5 during the regular season

The other 10 remaining teams left consisted of.-

  • #2 seeds – 3
  • #3 seeds – 1
  • #4 seeds – 2
  • #5 seeds – 2
  • #6 seeds – 1
  • #7 seeds – 1

There are still 8 remaining undefeated teams teams with 14-0 records, including D V II Marion Local who is presently #2 in America with a 46 consecutive game winning streak.

There are seven schools with 13-1 records and two with 12-1 records.
