(11-27-23) Dalton (13-1) has never been in a State Football Championship game…this weekend they will jump into the deep end when they play state power Marion Local from the Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC) in the D VII final. The Flyers have 13 state championship trophies in their trophy case.

The Flyers have been on a roll again this season…they have the 2nd longest consecutive game winning streak in America with 47 wins…including two consecutive state titles.

Dalton’s only loss this season came to another state power Kirtland 14-7…the Hornets are playing in the D VI state final. Since that time they have rolled off 13 straight wins while scoring 31 or more points a game.

Marion Local has only given up one score in their five playoff games…the other four games were shutouts. In those games they scored 63, 69, 48 and 42 points.

They did have two nail-biter games this season…in week one they scored late to beat eventual Co-Western Buckeye League champion and D III school Wapakoneta 29-26. They also held on to beat Midwest Athletic Conference rival Versailles 14-13…the Tigers will be playing in the D VI title game this weekend.
