(12-6-23) As we near the end of 2023 Liberty-Benton is still looking for a future athletic conference home. The Eagles this past spring attempted to join the Northwest Conference (NWC), but was never really in the mix and was passed over.

Since that time the rumor mill has been silent, very silent. Checking out recent L-B BOE agendas finds no mention or plans for finding an athletic conference. Most schools try to have future athletic schedules in place for the future, at least two years in advance. This also holds true for any members of a conference who might consider adding the Eagles, time is slipping by.

The final year for Liberty-Benton in the Blanchard Valley Conference (BVC) is scheduled to be the 2025-26 season.

When you consider that Lima Senior just finished their first season in the Toledo City League and Ohio D III Football State Champion Toledo Central Catholic just finished their first season in the Michigan conference the Catholic High School League.

So getting that conference home could take some time or they might need to settle for something that is less than perfect.
