(8-5-24) Today in a surprise to many area bowlers it was announced that the Plaza Lanes in Celina was closing it doors permanently.
Plaza Bowling Lanes For Sale…Owners To Retire
Local bowlers will no longer have a place to compete or practice locally. The facility is for sale according to the Cisco family posting on Facebook.
For Celina High Schools boys and girls bowling teams it will cause a problem since the Plaza has been the home for the Bulldogs. For now the season is in limbo.
Celina Bowling Coach on Facebook
Thank you to the Cisco Family for their years of dedication and support to Celina Bowling and the community. We would not have become the program we are today without them. I’ve said for a long time we were very lucky to bowl out of Plaza Lanes as they took very very good care of us.
Like all of you, I found out the news as well this morning. I know everybody has a lot of questions concerning the upcoming season, equipment at the alley, leagues, etc.
I wish I had definitive answers for them all, but I don’t at this time. I do know that we will do everything possible to make sure we give kids the best opportunity to bowl this year. What that will look like, I don’t know at this time, but like everything, we will figure it out.
As far as equipment still at the bowling alley, I have been told there will be dates/times to pick things up. I don’t have those yet, but once I do, I will post that information as well.
UPDATE: You may pick up stuff Tuesday from 3pm until 6pm and Wednesday from 10am until 2pm. Please use the east door.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out, and I will do my best to get you an answer. — with Brian Gilliland and Carl Huber.
