Coldwater Cavaliers 2024 OHSAA D VI State Champions
(12-7-24) Kirtland and Coldwater are Ohio’s two best small-school programs not named Marion Local. Entering today’s D VI Championship games the Hornets and the Cavaliers had both won 7 state championships and had 13 title game appearances in the last two decades.
The Cavaliers were back in Canton for the first time since 2021 and they were looking for their first state title since 2020.
Today Coldwater would pick up their 8th state title with a convincing 31-7 win over Kirtland in the D VII title game. The Cavs were ahead 21-0 at the half and added 10 more points in the 3rd quarter before the Hornets would hit pay dirt late in the 4th quarter.
Coldwater ends the season at 15-1, with their only loss coming to D VII State Champion Marion Local. Kirtland ends the year at 14-2.
