(3-26-25) Today the 2025 All-Ohio Boys Basketball teams for the lower four divisions was released.

The process is controlled by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association (OPSWA) statewide media panel.

Quinn ‘Turtle’ Kwasniak & Cameron Elwer

The D VII Player of the Year named was Cornestone Christian’s Quinn ‘Turtle’ Kwasniak. A great selection, he is just fun to watch and follow…and he became the Ohio all-time career scoring leader this year and led his team to a D VII State Runner-Up finish losing to Russia in the title game. Great qualifications. So why was he not included in the process of being named Ohio’s Mr. Basketball?

So why is this an issue…Delphos St. John’s Cameron Elwer, just a Junior, had a season to remember and he does it all. Elwer helped lead the Blue Jays to its second straight Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC) title, one of Ohio’s premiere small school conferences. He was named to the D VII 1st team, but was not the POY.

So how did Elwer end up being a finalist for the title of Mr. Basketball a few weeks ago…to add to that he would end up as the runner-up to this year’s winner Marcus Johnson as a Player from D VII.

So how in the world does this happen? Kwasniak was not even a finalist for Mr. Basketball and Elwer finished as the runner-up and was not even a POY for the year. Both were in D VII, the smallest division in Ohio.

What kind of a voting formula did they use to come up with this result.
