(7-2-25) In the beginning…New Bremen football. How many people knew that New Bremen had football in the early 1900’s? Luckily the New Bremen Historic Association did and in 2000 did the research on those early years. Many Cardinal fans would most likely tell you that football first came to New Bremen in 1971…which is when it reemerged.
So much early history of high school sports has been lost or put on the back-shelves of your library in old newspapers.

Game field in the early 1900’s…
The Tri-County Fairgrounds is mentioned several times as the field used by New Bremen. It was located in the Southwest corner of Rt. 274 & Kettler Road. The Schroer farm is how many people remember it, just east of the high school.
