(1-6-26) The Mid-Eastern Conference (MEC), in its search for additional conference members, found out recently that Elwood has declined to off to join.

In an email reply to SSN from Elwood AD Ryan Vanskyock on the situation-

There has been a lot of information circulating on Facebook regarding Elwood possibly leaving the Central Indiana Conference. In December, Elwood and Southern Wells did receive a formal invitation to join the MEC Conference. Principal, Mr. Evans and I took this invitation seriously and spent considerable time evaluating the potential advantages and disadvantages of making a conference change.

After careful review and discussion, we felt the best decision for Elwood was to remain in the Central Indiana Conference (CIC). Over the past four years, our athletic programs have made significant progress, improving each season and beginning to build consistency through hard work, commitment, and growth.

Rather than stepping away from that progress, our athletic department and coaches are committed to continuing the rebuilding process and strengthening our programs. We believe staying in the CIC provides the best opportunity to build on what we have started and continue moving Elwood athletics forward.

Central Indiana Conference: Alexandria, Blackford, Eastbrook (516), Elwood, Frankton (502), Madison-Grant, Mississinewa (683) and Oak Hill (486)

Elwood’s enrollment is listed at 432….with three CIC members enrollment being smaller….Alexandria (418), Blackford (427) and Madison-Grant (289). In the MEC they would have had the largest enrollment.
