(1-10-26) They weren’t supposed to win, but the Celina wrestlers had other plans. On a day the varsity coaches earned their school record 200th career victory, the Bulldogs went 6-0 in Coldwater’s Bob Sielski Duals Tournament to improve to 15-2 on the season and now have won 4 of the 5 tournaments that they have entered.

In the championship match against Franklin…Celina fell behind 27-12, then they won the next three matches via pin to take a 30-27 lead heading into the 175 pound class. Celina would lose via pin to give Franklin a 33-30 lead before senior Wes Greber bumped up and earned a technical fall for a 35-33 lead. Senior Isaac Posada added a major decision at 215 to make the score 39-33 heading into the final match at 285. Franklin would need a pin at heavyweight to tie, but Celina would win that tiebreaker, so Franklin decided to not wrestle heavyweight Cash Patrick giving Celina another six points for the 45-33 win.

This was a total team effort, but a special shoutout to junior Payten Staugler who made his season debut today and wrestled the best (or close to it) kid on almost every team to help the bulldogs win every match.
