Blake Blaker

(1-16-26) Bellmont announced today on social media the hiring of a new head football coach—Blake Blaker. It was made official at Tuesday night’s meeting of the North Adams School Board meeting.

Blaker replaces Coach Nick Hall who stepped down in late November. Hall had been the head coach since 2020 and going 1-57 over his six seasons, including a current 42 consecutive losing streak.

Blaker has been the Southern Wells head coach the past two years, compiling a 2-18 record, one of his wins included a 21-14 win over Jay County this past fall that marked the Raiders’ first ACAC win since 2019. He has also been on the coaching staffs at several area schools… Central Noble, Fort Wayne South Side, Ft. Wayne Concordia, and Huntington North . Blaker is a graduate of Eastside High School.

Blaker will also be a social studies teacher at Bellmont.

Reports (Ryan Walker of the The Bluffton News-Banner was the first to report the story) have indicated that Southern Wells is expected to rehire Jeff Sprunger as their new head football coach. Sprunger previously served as the Raiders’ head coach for one season in 2023, going 1-9. Sprunger has also been the head coach at Whitko from 2016-18, going 8-21 with the Wildcats.

Southern Wells is considering a conference change from the ACAC to the Mid-Eastern Conference…with the decision coming in the next week or two.
