(1-17-26) In 1992 the Winnebago girls basketball team had a season to remember.
Winnebago finished in 3rd place in the IHSA State Class A Basketball tournament ending the season with a 30-2 record, including going 14-0 in conference play. They were ranked 6th in the final Class A poll.

The Indians were led by:
Angie Mitchell, IBCA All-State, All-Area Player of the Year, IBCA All-Tourney, All Conference
Carrie Remer, IBCA All-State, All-Area, IBCA All-Tourney, All Conference
Melanie Westlake, All-Conference
Heather Dowdakin Brûlé, who is the mom of two current Indian players Avery and Emmy

The 1992 squad held the record for the school’s highest state finish for 30 years. That was until 2022 when Winnebago finished as the Class 2A State Runner-Up. Coach Judy Krause, who led both the 1992 and 2022 teams, retired in 2022 with 598 career wins and induction into the IBCA Hall of Fame.
