Rosswurm, Lindsay, Shirley headline IBCA Players of the Week; Hauser boys, Penn boys, Brownsburg girls cited as IBCA Teams of the Week

Norwell senior Vanessa Rosswurm set her school’s career scoring record, Eastern (Greentown) senior Colton Lindsay is closing in on his school’s career scoring record and Evansville Central senior Maddy Shirley reached notable milestones in scoring and rebounding. Thus, Rosswurm, Lindsay and Shirley headline the honorees in this week’s IBCA Player of the Week program.

Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian sophomore Bryce LaCross, Triton Central senior Eli Sego and Noblesville senior C.C. Quigley join Rosswurm, Lindsay and Shirley as Week 13 winners in the IBCA Player of the Week program for 2025-26.

Also, the Hauser boys’ team, the Penn boys’ team and the Brownsburg girls’ team each was cited as an IBCA/Ballogy Team of the Week for respective performances during the week of Jan. 26-31 in the recognition program coordinated by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

 Players of the Week are selected by IHSAA district – LaCross and Rosswurm for District 1, Lindsay and Quigley for District 2, and Sego and Shirley for District 3. Teams of the Week are cited at the discretion of the program coordinators, former Martinsville coach Kip Staggs for boys and former Brownsburg coach Debbie Smiley for girls. Players and teams are recognized based on all performances in a Monday through Saturday week.

Rosswurm averaged 29.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 6.5 steals in two games while pushing her career total to 1,663 points, moving past the previous Norwell record of 1,650 points set by 2024 graduate Kennedy Fuelling. Rosswurm opened with 29 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and six steals in a 75-36 victory over Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger. The 5-10 guard then scored 29 points again along with three rebounds, one assist and seven steals as the Knights (20-4) topped East Noble 66-35. For the two games, the Indiana Wesleyan University recruit sank 19-of-49 field goals, 10-of-22 3-poitners and 10-of-12 free throw.

Lindsay averaged 38.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals in two games while moving his career scoring output to 1,481 points, 46 points shy of breaking the Eastern (Greentown) record of 1,526 points set by 1979 graduate Rick Stout. Lindsay poured in 42 points with two rebounds, two assists and three steals in an 86-67 setback at Class A No. 8 Rossville. The 5-11 guard followed with 34 points, four rebounds, two assists and four steals in a 67-47 victory over Wabash. Lindsay converted 28-of-47 fielders, 5-of-16 treys and 15-of-19 free throws for the week, including 15-of-26, 3-of-10 and 9-9 in the 42-point outburst, for the Comets (8-7).

            Shirley, a second-time Player of the Week this season, surpassed 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds as the Evansville Central girls (14-11) split a pair of contests. The 6-1 forward opened with 23 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one blocked shot in a 51-33 triumph at Evansville North. The University of Southern Indiana recruit followed with 24 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks in a 64-46 loss at Castle. In the two games, she sank 19-of-34 from the field and 9-of-10 free throws. Shirley, previously honored for the week of Dec. 8-13, completed her week with 2,016 points and 1,012 rebounds.

LaCross averaged 26.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists as the Class 3A No. 15 Blackhawk Christian boys went 2-0 for the week. The 6-3 wing netted 17 points with nine rebounds, six assists, one steal and two blocks in a 77-73 victory at Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger. He followed with a career-high 35 points plus eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block as the Braves edged Fort Wayne Wayne 67-64. For the week, LaCross hit 18-of-38 field goals, 8-of-17 3-pointers and 8-of-8 free throws.

Sego poured in 30 points in the only game of the week for the Triton Central boys, a 66-48 victory at Eastern Hancock. The 6-0 guard added five rebounds, five assists and three steals as the Tigers improved to 13-2. Sego went 13-of-18 from the field and 4-of-8 from distance to account for his big game.

Quigley averaged 26.0 points and 11 rebounds as the Noblesville girls went 1-1 for the week. The 6-2 forward opened with 20 points, four rebounds and one steal in a 49-39 setback at Class 4A No. 10 Pendleton Heights. The Lipscomb University signee followed with a career-high 32 points, 18 rebounds, one assist and one block in a 60-40 victory at Anderson. In the two games, Quigley went 18-of-34 on field goals, 2-of-6 on 3-pointers and 12-of-17 on free throws for the Millers (9-11).

Team of the Week honors went to Hauser and Penn for boys as well as Brownsburg for girls.

The Class A No. 3 Hauser boys, 13-2 overall and coached by Trent Moorhead, knocked off Class 3A No. 4 Batesville 56-50 in their only game of the week. Penn, 12-3 overall and coached by Barak Coolman, posted two victories. The Kingsman defeated South Bend Adams 66-52 and upset Class 4A No. 12 Goshen 57-33.

The Brownsburg girls, 12-9 overall and coached by Josh Sabol, went 2-0 for the week. The Bulldogs upended Class 4A No. 14 Bloomington South 73-38 and outscored Zionsville 75-34.

This is the 18th season for the IBCA Player of the Week program. This is the second season for the IBCA Team of the Week program and the second season the Team of the Week program is presented by Ballogy, an IBCA corporate partner.

 Coaches may nominate players and teams via buttons on the IBCA website (in.nhsbca.org). Coaches must be a current-year member for their players and/or team to be selected for a weekly award. Girls’ winners are chosen from now through Monday following the IHSAA girls’ State Finals. Boys’ winners are chosen from now through the Monday following the IHSAA boys’ State Finals.
