Blue Jay’s Boys Basketball vs Fort Recovery

DSJ and Fort Recovery first met in a Sectional tournament game in 1938, a Fort Recover 21-18 win. The teams met three more times before DSJ joined the MAC for the 1983 season and they’ve met annually since. The ‘Jays lead the all-time series 36-14 and has won 8 of the last 11.

In 1999 DSJ and Fort Recovery met with the Indians unbeaten and ranked #2 in the state. The 6-6 Blue Jays got a sold out Robert A. Arnzen Gymnasium rocking, building a 25-14 halftime lead. FR cut the lead to 31-24 after three and fought back to within 40-36 with 29 seconds left. The ‘Jays hit their free throws and handed FR their first loss 43-36.

Ryan Morris and Rocky Klaus led DSJ with 10 points each followed by 7 from Craig Hershey. FR big man Chris Bihn was held to 7 for FR.

Later in the season DSJ hosted Div I #1 Celina and knocked off the Bulldogs 50-46.
