(3-10-26) The Ottoville vs. Stryker 2026 OHSAA Division VII Regional Final girls basketball game had an unusual situation when the game was stopped late, suspended and finished the next day.

What happened

The OHSAA D VI regional final game was being played at Bluffton University at the Sommer Center. It was the first of three scheduled tournament games…12noon, 3pm and 6pm.

During the fourth quarter the officials noticed moisture forming on the court due to the humidity, that was the making of the floor becoming slippery and unsafe.

Stryker Head Coach Conner Ruffer in a Crescent-News story said

It was slippery throughout the second half, and was continuing to get worse. My girls wanted to play, and felt comfortable making adjustments, but that wasn’t listened to.”

With 5:44 left in the game, play was suspended for safety concerns for the players. At the time of the stoppage Stryker led 37–31 over the Ottoville.

Game resumed the next day

The two teams returned on Sunday afternoon and resumed play from the exact time and score where it had been stopped. Ottoville would come from behind finished on a 13–2 run.
