(4-16-26) Parkway boys head basketball coach Doug Hughes has announced today that he has stepped down as the Panther’s coach.
After a run as Parkway’s head coach from 2005-11, Hughes resigned to become the school’s athletic director. He had a 56-72 record in that stretch position.
In 2016, Hughes returned as the Panthers head-coach until today’s announcement.
The Panthers this year went 7-16 and 1-8 in the conference.
Hughes, is Parkway’s all-time winningest boys basketball coach with a record of 177-220 in 17 years as a head coach.
A career highlight was the Panthers reaching the regional tournament championship game in the 2019-20 season, but the season was cancelled before the game could be played due to the COVID epidemic.
