Adam Massman (17) would have been a senior at Alma Center Lincoln High School (Alma Center-Humbird-Merrillan School District) in Alma Center, Wisconsin.
Massman was injured on Thursday night, August 20, 2026, during Lincoln’s game against Turtle Lake. Emergency medical personnel were on site, provided care, and transported him to a hospital.
The district would learn of his death on Saturday afternoon, August 22, 2026, and Superintendent Drew Semingson notified families. (See statement below)
Massman played quarterback and defensive back (also listed as cornerback) for the Lincoln Hornets. In the 2025 season he threw for 858 yards and 10 touchdowns in six games and rushed for 280 yards and three touchdowns (1,138 total yards), per MaxPreps stats entered by the coach. He also competed in basketball and baseball, and in track (including 100m, 200m, and long jump). He was named to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association’s 2025 Boys Basketball Academic All-State list.
He was described as active in the school community through multiple sports, clubs, and activities, including the Lincoln ACHM FFA chapter, and as involved with the family’s cattle business. Family connections to the district are extensive: his mother, Brianne Massman, is an elementary school counselor; a sibling attends junior high; an aunt and uncle (Nicki and Jake Prindle) teach at Lincoln Elementary; and an uncle (Sam Prindle) serves on the school board.
Counseling support has been made available for students, staff, and families, with additional services scheduled at Lincoln Jr./Sr. High School beginning at noon on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Lincoln Families,
I am messaging to share news of the sudden passing of Lincoln senior student Adam Massman. Adam was injured during Thursday night’s football game. He received medical support from EMT who were onsite at the game, before being transported to the hospital. We received news this afternoon that Adam passed away from the injury.
Adam was active in our Lincoln community, participating in multiple sports, clubs, and activities making friends everywhere he went. The Lincoln Jr/Sr High School building is open to students, parents, and friends today, and we will have counselors available to meet with students. We will also have counseling support available to students on Monday starting at 12:00, and throughout the day on Tuesday as students return to school.
This loss touches our Lincoln family in many ways. Adam’s family has deep connections throughout our schools, including his mother, Mrs. Brianne Massman, our elementary school counselor; a sibling at the Jr High; his uncle and aunt, Mr. Jake Prindle and Mrs. Nicki Prindle, who are teachers at Lincoln Elementary; his uncle Mr. Sam Prindle, who serves on the Lincoln School Board; along with other relatives on staff and friends and family throughout the student body.
We ask that you keep Adam’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

The Hornets’ game Thursday night was against Turtle Lake. Alma Center Lincoln won 42-18. The team is scheduled to play Cornell on Friday. Neither the school nor the WIAA has said if that game will still be played.
