(8-29-26) The Grove City Division of Police are investigating that members of the Glenville High School football team allegedly stole around $4,000 dollar’s worth of various items from a Dick’s Sporting Goods this past Thursday.
Store staff members reported that they believed that the individuals were players on the Glenville High School football team and ranged in the ages from 15 to 20 and that they had allegedly stole a total of $4,552.04 worth of merchandise.
Police spoke with team coaches who were staying with the team at a hotel nearby, the coaches cooperated with the investigation and some of the merchandise was returned to the store.
A statement from a spokesperson for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District:
Regarding the allegation about Glenville players, we are aware of it and are gathering information. We expect our scholars to behave appropriately and if that didn’t happen, we will take the appropriate next steps.
It was announced this week that Glenville’s Head Coach Ted Ginn Sr’s team was put on probation by the OHSAA for holding padded practices before Aug. 1.
Despite the incident Glenville played last night and went on to beat Liberty 34-13.
The police continue the investigation and the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) has not issued a comment.
