Blue Streaks Up Next For Flyers

(3-16-17) The Marion Local Flyers are one game away from a trip to a D III Final Four in Columbus after beating Milan Edison 54-44 at Bowling Green.  The Flyers were led by Tyler Mescher with 21 points, Ryan Thobe had 14 and Nathan Bruns added 13 points, Collin Everman had 7 rebounds.

Edison Head Coach Kyle Hammond told the Norwalk Reflector after the game:

“First off, I think Marion Local deserves a ton of credit. Mescher is a heck of a player. He’s a load on the inside. It was tough for us to stop him.“

Bryce Williams led the way for Archbold with 22 points, but defense was the key Stritch  struggled against the Blue Streaks’ defense, shooting just  10-for-38 (26 %) from the field and 5-for-20 (25 p%) from behind the 3-point line.

Williams told BCSN TV:

“If it’s a struggle, we have to rely on our defense. Defense wins championships and we have some of the best defenders on our team.”

The only common opponent comparison we can find between the two two teams, three of the Blue Streaks five losses came to WBL teams, including O-G, while Elida and Defiance both went to OT.  The Flyers went 3-3 against WBL opponents with two wins over Celina and a win over St. Marys, losses came to Wapakoneta, Shawnee and Van Wert.

The two will square off this Saturday night at the University of Toledo at 7pm for a chance to advance to the D III Finals in Columbus.
