(2-5-17) This week’s SSN’s National Girls Basketball Player of the Week is Crothersville’s (Indiana) Katrina Christian.
Christian (5’7 Senior) helped lead the Tigers to a Class A Sectional title with three wins on the week. On Tuesday (1-31-17) in the Sectional opener Christian scored 27 points in a 49-47 OT win over Trinity Lutheran.
In the Sectional semifinal game (2-3-17), Christian had 13 points in a 54-41 win over Orleans. The win gave the Tigers the most wins in a season with 18.
In the Sectional Final game, Christian had 32 points in a 72-69 win over West Washington, the Tigers also added their 19th win on the season. The win made national news, it was the Tigers first-ever Sectional championship in any sport in a 103 years of being an IHSAA member. (Move over Chicago Cubs). Crothersville joined the IHSAA in 1914.

Christian will continue her basketball career next season at Eastern Illinois University.
Crothersville will play in Saturday’s Springs Valley Class A Regional against top-ranked Wood Memorial (24-1) in the second game at noon.
