In the first game of the 2017 OHSAA D2 State Boys Bowling Finals, Coldwater’s Trey James bowled a 299. The highest score in a State match ever for a Cavalier bowler.
(3-4-17) The Coldwater Cavaliers boys bowling team entered the OHSAA DII Bowling Championship round as the #1 seed, Woodridge who was 10th after the 3-game scores, was able to manage to qualify as the 8th qualifier after the Baker games. The Cavs, who were down 2-1 in the best of 5 match would come back and win the fourth game to force a deciding 5th game. Woodridge would bowl their best game of the match and would pick up a deciding 5th game win 233-202 to advance to the semifinals. The loss eliminated Coldwater.
Coldwater was 2nd after the 3-game scores trailing Hillsboro by just 8 pins 2,936-2,938. After a strong showing in the Baker games (691), Coldwater moved into the #1 spot.
Woodridge went on to lose to St. Marys in the semifinal round. The Roughriders would go on to beat Hillsboro 3-0 and claim the DII State Championship.
The Cavaliers Trey James , who is 1st Team All-Ohio with a 3rd Place individual finish, led the Cavs with a 682 series, including a 299 game to start the day (200-183). His 299 is the second highest score in the DII tournament.

Bowling a perfect game (300) on the day was St. Henry’s Trey Buehler, who was bowling as an individual. His 300 game is the first ever in the DII State Tournament. That helped him to be a 2nd team All-State bowler.
