Mike Winters

(6-7-17) The Harlem Board of Education will be looking to make Mike Winters the next Head Boys Basketball Coach at Harlem at its next scheduled meeting (June 12th). It will be Winters third NIC 10 position during his career, including his last job as the Boylan Head man. His first NIC 10 job was at his alma mater Jefferson.

Scott Lemke

Winters will be replacing Scott Lemke who took over for Chad Barger in May of 2015, before that he was an assistant in the Huskies’ program for eight seasons.  The Huskies went 7-22 this past season. Lemke is the Boys Golf Coach at Harlem.

Winters, who did not coach this past season after stepping away from teaching, was the Head Coach at Boylan and went 108-40 in his five years leading the Titans. In 2015-16 he went 31-3, picking up a NIC 10 title, Regional and Sectional Championships.  He also picked up his 300th career coaching win against East that season.

In 2004-05 he led led Jefferson to a Class AA 3rd Place finish in the State Finals in Peoria.

Winters inherits a program that has not won a conference title in 40 years, that last one was back in 1977. The Huskies last Regional championship was in 2002.

Harlem will also have new wrestling and girls volleyball coaches in the fall.  Wayne Otto, who was hired just last summer to head the wrestling program, resigned in March, he was also a PE teacher.  Ashley Cerasa, will take over the Huskies Volleyball program from Amanda Hathaway, the former North Boone coach was at Harlem for two years. Cerasa was the Harlem JV Coach.
