(9-25-17) Coldwater grad Brody Hoying continues to show why he is one of the top defensive backs in the MAC. Hoying, who is a red-shirt Sophomore, has continued to help Eastern Michigan patrol the defensive backfield.

Defensive Player of the Week: Eastern Michigan DB Brody Hoying

Eastern Michigan sophomore Brody Hoying (Coldwater, Ohio) led with a career-best 10 tackles and two forced fumbles in a 27-20 (2OT) loss to Ohio. Hoying recorded a career-high two forced fumbles, one which he recovered and returned 40 yards to set the Eagles up with prime field position, ultimately leading to a field goal. Hoying is one of just three players in the country, and the only player in the MAC, to have recorded at least two interceptions and two forced fumbles so far this season.

 

Hoying is ranked in the  MAC and nationally in multiple categories, including: fumbles forced (MAC 2/NCAA 3), fumbles recovered (MAC 2/NCAA 14), interceptions (MAC 3/NCAA 12), passes defended (MAC 5/NCAA 30), and solo tackles (MAC 4/NCAA 34).

Next Saturday the Eagles travel to Lexington, Kentucky to take on the SEC’s Kentucky Wildcats.
