(11-5-17) Today Celina was hit by a F1 tornado, most of the major damage took place near the Haveman Road-Grand Lake Road area. That area includes Eastview Park and Montgomery Field which both took hits and had major damage done .
The ‘Mont’ is the home field of several teams during the spring and summer baseball seasons, Celina High School, WSU-Lake and the summer collegiate Grand Lake Mariners of the Great Lake League.
The Montgomery Field just had the turf replaced last month, no word on all of the damages, cost to fix or time schedule, but at least one of the poles and light standard were down, first base fence and a major loss is the loss of the press box roof.
At least eight people have been reported injured from the tornado and major damage was caused to the Crown Equipment building next door to the field, plus the Dollar General Store, C-Town Wings and several other businesses located on Haveman Road.
