(12-12-17) – So what’s new at Marion Local? How about winning back-to-back State D VI football titles, 10 total State Football Championships, #1 state ranked,15-0 season record, 27 consecutive game winning streak and a Midwest Athletic Championship.
The Flyers knocked off, currently undefeated, Kirltand 34-11 to claim the 2017 OHSAA D VI State Championship in convincing style, including a running clock in the 4th Quarter.. The Flyers trailed early 3-0, but would never look back.

It was a total team effort again by the Flyers.
On offense they had 331 total yards, QB Nathan Bruns passed (10-15 for 178 yards) for two TDs to Nick Tangeman, rushing TDs by Nolan Habodsz, Jack Buening and Alex Partington.
On defense, they held a high-powered Kirtland (184 yards total offense) in check after the FG to start the game and a late fourth quarter TD
