(12-14-17) Margaretta (Ohio) High School (located in Castalia) cheerleaders were benched for talking during the National Anthem at last Friday’s boys basketball game against Edison  and were not allowed to cheer on Saturday night during the Clyde game.

Margaretta Schools Superintendent Dennis Mock told the Sandusky Register in a Wednesday Story:

“We have not had an issue and again I’m not going to comment whether they were punished or not because again I can not speak on discipline.”

“Well I know what happened, so it’s not whether it’s my understanding or not.”

Athletic Director Gary Barrett in the same article:

“There were no complaints outside of myself and the building principal.”

“(Residents taking issue with talking during the anthem) was suggested to me today, but I can tell you no one else has brought this to my attention.”

The school system does not currently have a written policy in place regarding actions of students’ action during  the National Anthem at school activities.
