The Streak Ends…

(12-15-17) The North Central Jets boys basketball 84 game winning streak ended (12-7-17) when they lost to Rapid River 65-43 . During that stretch they won three Class D championships, which is the longest in Michigan prep basketball history, boys or girls. Passaic High (N.J.) holds the national all-time streak at 159 from 1919-1925.

Rapid River Head Coach Rich Pom:

“I have a lot of respect for (coach) Adam Mercier and North Central. He’s a great coach and great friend. I’m happy we did it, but at the same time, I was glad he got that record.”

New streak starts…

On Thursday night the Jets started a new winning streak at home beating Carney-Nadeau 71-49. North Central was led by sophomore Noah Gorzinski’s 19 points and senior Lucas Dombrowski added 16.

North Central, located in the  Upper Peninsula of Michigan has  an enrollment of 115 students. Much like one of the most popular high school sports movies ‘Hoosier’/
