Minster runner Cassie Francis signed her national letter of intent this week to continue her running career at Xavier University and will compete in the 800 meters for track next season.
She finished second in the Division III 800-meter run her freshman season.
Francis has been a part of the Minster track team that has been the D III state runner-up three years in a row. During her Freshman (2015) year she was the State runner-up in the 800-meter run and a member of the 4×400-meter relay team.
Francis who was a member of the Wildcats cross country team and one of the team’s Top 5 finishers during their State title season this year. Francis was an All-MAC selection thanks to her 6th place finish at this year’s conference meet. She has not decided if she will also run cross country next season for the Musketeers.
Francis was also considering an offer from Pennsylvania’s Waynesburg University, but staying close to home made Xavier the final choice. She hopes to enter the Nursing program in the fall.
Francis will be joined by her teammate Junior Courtney Prenger in 2019, who verbally committed to Xavier last month.
