(2-18-18) Marion Local’s Tyler Mescher (Sr SF) is this week’s SSN Player of the Week.

In a critical MAC game on Monday night vs. Versailles, Mescher scored a game high 23 points on 9 of 15 from the field in the Flyers 52-47 win.  With the win the Flyers are assured of a share of the title and are now in position to claim an outright championship in the Midwest Athletic Conference on Friday night with a win at home against Coldwater.

Versailles Coach Travis Swank told the Daily Advocate after the game:

“Mescher is such a wide body that he misses shots, but then he’s right there. He doesn’t leave the ground very much, and when our guys leave the ground to go up with him and he misses, he’s the guy that usually gets the rebound because we’re out of position, and that’s how he gets a lot of points.”

On Friday night in a 64-42 MAC win over New Knoxville, Mesher led the Flyers with a team high 14 points.

Note of interest:

If the Flyers beat Coldwater on Friday, it would give them both football and boys basketball championships, the interesting fact?  They would be 18-0, not losing a MAC game in 2017-18.
