DeKalb and Kaneland Closing In On NIC 10 Membership

kl

(4-12-18) The NIC 10 could be expanding by adding two of the final three remaining NIB 12 members, DeKalb and Kaneland.

The two schools have officially applied and are scheduled to make presentations to conference principals and athletic directors.

In an email reply to an SSN email Freeport Principal Dr. Beth Summers tells us:

I can confirm as President of the NIC 10 this year that we have received requests from both Kaneland and DeKalb to consider them for possible admission to the conference starting in the 2019-20 school year.  We are following our process to consider their request and expect a conference decision sometime in May.
I know what I provided above is a minimal amount of information, however we expect to move fairly quickly though our process in the next month or so.  Thank you for your inquiry.

Should the two schools be added it would give the NIC 10 twelve members, which could lead to two six-team divisions.
