(6-4-18) The NIC recently announced their NIC softball and baseball All Conference teans.

In softball his year’s MVP, Bianca Barone, picks up her 3rd consecutive award. She was joined on the 1st team by four of her teammates (all five Huskies were Seniors), Elle Adams, Kirstin Fudge, Megen Johnson and Mackenzie Lawrence. Despite not winning the conference title, the Huskies had  26 wins and a Regional championship.Halem’s Olivia Penney picked up Special Mention honors.

The two league co-champs Freeport and Hononegah both placed two players on the first team. Those players included Hononegah’s Elle Adams and Ashton Melass, while Freeport’s Amaya Bouvia and Taylor Murray picked up the honors for the Pretzels.

The two co-champions also had Special Mention choices, Hononegah’s Emilie Bunker and Freeport’s Sydney Ohrtmann and Josie Bunker.

Hononegah’s Jessica Starr was named Coach of the Year and Auburn picked up the Sportmanship Award.

East’s Scott Gowan (P/SS) was named this year’s NIC-10 baseball MVP helping the E-Rabs to their first conference title in any sport in 20 years. The E-Rabs had five total selections on the first-team all-conference team (including Gowan, that list included Martavion Adams, Brandon Folk, Jordin Lee and Brandon Raum.

NIC 10 Runner-up Hononegah had three players selected, Freshman Braden Sayles, Aren Gustafson and Tyler Statler.

Boylan Freshman Daniel Contreras also picked up 1st team honors. That gave the NIC 10 two freshman on the first team.

East Coach Chris Luttig was named the Coach of the Year and Belvidere picked up the Sportsmanship Award.
